The purpose of this project was to create an animation to be viewed through the Artivive app on mobile phone. I used Photoshop and Premiere Pro to achieve the final product.
I began this project by conducting research on my chosen artist Patti Smith. After learning about her legacy and life's accomplishments, I found that I wanted to showcase her timeless style and her love for New York City. I thought that incorporating this smoky brushwork would reflect her effortless and subtle punk style and worked seamlessly with the cigarette; additionally, I thought that the stop motion I worked with was timeless like Patti Smith. It also felt natural to highlight the artist's love for New York through the cigarette in her hand.

To the left, is what the piece would look like once it is scanned by the Artivive app. The biography is written as follows:
Patti Smith born December 30, 1946 was a singer and songwriter who quickly became a face of the New York City punk rock scene. Her style was an intentional fusion of glamor and grit that has continued to inspire generations later even to people who do not even realize it. In 2010, she wrote a memoir Just Kids focusing on her time in New York City and her relationship with Robert Mapplethorpe. She writes with gratitude and love, and speaks of her activism of HIV AIDS-Benefit. Presently, Smith is vocal against Russian presence in Ukraine. Smith has always made sure she uses her platform as a voice of good towards the movements and ideas she cares most deeply about. She is revered as a trend setter, activist, and true champion of dedicating ones life to their craft.
